Rosayle Montana Kelley

April 16, 1917 — January 28, 2013

Kelley, Rosayle Montana (Guild) "Mami", age 95, of Miamisburg, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013. Rosayle was born April 16, 1917 in Lewistown, Montana to the late Daniel Richmond & Pearl Elizabeth (Heiser) Guild. Rosayle was the last surviving child of eight. She married Horace Agard Kelley on September 5, 1937 in Santa Barbara, California.

Rosayle was a Seventh-Day Adventist missionary in Mexico for over 22 years, teaching mathematics, physics, English and music. She was a long-time member and Assistant Pastor of the Kettering Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her paternal grandparents, Richmond Daniel Guild and Susannah Macintosh, were pioneer Michigan Seventh-Day Adventists. The Guild Protestant roots date back to the 16th century; University of St Andrews professor David Guild studied with Martin Luther and was one of the "Ministers and Commissioners of the First General Assembly" of the Presbyterian church in Scotland in 1560. Rosayle's New England ancestors include the Rev. Thomas Hooker (founder of Connecticut), John Guild (co-founder of Dedham, Massachusetts, 1637) and merchant Robert Calef (strong opponent of the Salem witchcraft trials). Rosayle graduated from Southern California Junior college in 1937 and received her mathematics degree from Wright State University at the age of 52.

Rosayle is survived by her children and their spouses: Patricia (Jaime) Cruz; Horace Aubrey (Denise) Kelley; Mary Ellen (Henry) Kelley-Bryant; Michael C. (Ivonne) Kelley & John C. (Marcela) Kelley; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her first grandchild, Jim Cruz.

Memorial services will be held at 3:30 P.M. on February 16 at the Kettering Seventh Day Adventist Church. Arrangements in care of Newcomer Funeral Home – South Chapel.
