Rosa Lee Vaughan

August 20, 1926 — November 25, 2019

Rosa Lee McNair was born August 20, 1926, in Plymouth, North Carolina, to the late Lawrence McNair Sr. and Georgianna (Thomas) McNair. Rosa Lee was the fourth of six siblings, Grace, Edgar, Lawrence Jr., Wyinona and Ethel. She received her education in the Plymouth Schools system and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1943 at the age of sixteen.

On January 4, 1941 at the age of fifteen, she committed her life to the Lord at the Church of God in Christ, in Plymouth, N.C.

After graduating High School, she migrated to Mount Vernon, New York in 1943 joining her oldest sister Grace. She became a member of The First Church of God in Christ in Mount Vernon, NY , under the leadership of the late, Pastor Ernest W. Allen.
By God's divine Purpose and Plan, she was chosen to be the wife of a consecrated young man, Randolph Vaughan. They were united in Holy Matrimony on June 15, 1952. This union was blessed with two daughters and one son.

She was a devoted wife and mother, instilling biblical values and teachings in her home.
She instilled in them the love of reading very early in their lives with many trips to the library. She also instilled in them the love of the arts and culture, with trips to the New York Metropolitan Art Museum, Museum of Natural History, The Planetarium, Rockefeller Center and The Bronx Zoo to name a few.

For forty-three years, Rosa Lee Vaughan served faithfully in the church in New York. She was an integral part of the early history of that church.

In January, 1986, after the passing of her husband, she moved from Mount Vernon, New York to Dayton, Ohio where she joined St. Paul Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Elder Earl N. Blake Sr., where she served faithfully.
Her journey led her to the Mount Olivet Church of God in Christ under the Pastorate of Elder Ozell Northern Sr. . As a seasoned saint of God, Mother Vaughan served as a prayer warrior and spiritual advisor to many.

On Monday, November 25, 2019, Rosa Lee Vaughan transitioned from this life to her Eternal Home to be with the Lord. She leaves to rejoice in her memory: two daughters, Cheryl Wheeler and Angeline Vaughan; one son, Andrew Tunji Vaughan Sr.; five grandchildren, Christa Wheeler, Chanel (Jason) Little, Andrew (Destiny) Vaughan Jr., Derrek Haywood, Sha Neisha White; eleven great-grandchildren: Christian (Berlin, Germany), Terry, Larry, Jason Jr., Camden, Marshall, Harmony, Ava, Miauni, King and Kristopher: one brother, Lawrence McNair Jr. (Plymouth NC), two sisters, Wyinona Collins (Mount Vernon, NY), and Verta Mae Dukes (Virginia Beach, VA); two sister-in-laws; Naomi Vaughan (Richmond, VA) and Alice Wynn (Chesapeake , VA); spiritual mentee and cousin, Roberta Hyman (Mount Vernon, NY); spiritual son, Robert Fleming Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
