Rosa Lee Gray-Tucker, named after her maternal Grandmother, age 77, of Dayton Ohio transitioned from her earthly home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2021. On that day she joined her parents, Leonard and Martha Gray, her beloved siblings, Billie Gray and Theresa Hunter, and her grandson Zheyan Gray-Tucker. Rosa was born in Creola, Alabama where she was the middle child of 7 children born to Leonard and Martha Gray. Rosa accepted Christ as a child and was a member of the Starlight Missionary Baptist Church. After moving to Dayton Ohio in 1961 she joined the Mt Enon Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member of the Mt. Enon's Pray line until her passing.
Rosa received her early education at Cleveland Elementary School in Saraland Alabama, graduated from Mobile County Training School in 1961 and Dayton School of Practical Nursing in Dayton Ohio.
Rosa was a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 5 years at St Elizabeth Hospital and worked at Inland Manufactory in Dayton Ohio for many years where she later retired in the workplace where she was skilled and dependable.
As a child Rosa was remarkably close to her siblings with a special connection to her brother "Bill". They were barely a year a part. Because of that connection, at the age of 5 she convinced her mother to send her to the 1st grade with her beloved "Billie."
Rosa was an active competitive child and that followed her into her adult life. She loved bowling, (a member multiple leagues (including Mt Enon) and the NBA Traveling Bowling league,) fishing, playing cards (spades, squeak, five thousand, dominos, pool, and pinochle) and dancing. Rosa's had an unbelievable memory and could recall events of the past and present in detail. If you did not know who Maze and Franky Beverly was you would after spending time with Rosa.
Anyone who really knew Rosa knew how much she loved her family, especially her children Byron and Marlena. That love extended to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. If you wanted to put a smile on her face just mentioned them. She loved them with a Godly love and always covered them in her prayers. She was a sweet soul, and she can never be replaced.
Rosa is survived by her devoted daughter and care giver, Marlena Gray, devoted son and supporter Byron Gray, 8 grandchildren, Charles (Jaqueline), Priscilla, Kathryn (Jamil), Marcus, Miracle, Kynadee, Azaya, and Storm. Great Grandchildren Ma'Kyah, Ja'Kyron, Xavier, and Junior. Also, a host of bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren. Can't forget those Wallace's all of Dayton Ohio. 4 siblings: Margaret Ash, Leonard Gray ( Eddie Mae) , Lillian Gray and Joyce (Willie) Roberson; Marlena's father, Marvin Tucker; and all of Mobile and numerous relatives and close friends.
