Ronnie L. Holmes

Ronnie LaRoy Holmes, age 89, of Kettering passed away peacefully joining his Lord and Savior on September 11, 2024. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Andrew Prin officiating at Newcomer Kettering, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Burial to follow at Dayton Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Ronnie was born in Dayton on April 11, 1935 to Vernon and Agnes Holmes. On October 1, 1955 he married the love of his life Jeanette Mort. They were married for 69 years creating a beautiful family together. He was a dedicated and hardworking husband and father. He was employed at NCR in the plating department, part-time at Belmont Marathon gas station and part-time at a Kettering convenience store. In addition to his many jobs, Ronnie was also a very skilled, self-employed carpenter. Oftentimes doing business on a handshake, he would work on room additions and various other projects for people. He loved his family deeply and passionately and would do all of these things and so much more for them. Ronnie let nothing stop him. A business owner, husband and father of six had a passion for flying. So that he did. He got his pilot's license, bought a Stinson Voyager and built himself and a buddy a hangar. He loved to fly and take his kids, grandkids and friends up for rides. He had a ton of love to leave to his family, creating so many memories with his children and grandchildren. Ronnie was an incredible man who was honest, loving and kind. He never met a stranger and would provide help to anyone, anywhere, at anytime. Ronnie will be deeply missed by all who knew him but he has left a legacy of memories and love for his family to cherish forever. Our dad would want you to always remember to love each other and pray for one another. 

He is survived by his loving wife Jeanette; children Jim Holmes, Jane Barnett, Nancy (Dave) Brush, Ronnie Holmes Jr., Patricia Holmes, Steve (Kelli) Holmes; grandchildren Andrea (Scott), Nicholas, Brennec, Jana, Shennon, Katrina (Chris), Rebecca (Chris), Kieran, Trevor, Dylan, Dustin; great-grandchildren Ryan, Eli, Ethan, Emma, Adam, Benjamin, Beckham, Isabella, Liam, Ace, Tristan and Eliana; along with many other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Ronnie is preceded in death by his sister, Sondra Hesson and daughter-in-law, Donna Holmes.
