Ronald Ray Hicks

Ronald Ray Hicks, age 84, of Dayton, was called home on July 18, 2012. He was born on January 15, 1928 to the late Floyd and Reba Hicks. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Thompson.

Ron is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruby (Lois) Hicks; two children, Diania (Bob) Collins and Rick (Helen) McPherson; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Rod (Peggy) Hicks and Loren Hicks; and other family members and good friends.

Ron honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy onboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2800, M.O.C. Pup Tent #9. Ron retired from Hilltop & Ernst Enterprise after 45 years of service, where he worked as a transportation engineer.

A funeral service will take place on Sunday July 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior from 1:00-2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron's memory to The Hospice of Dayton and Bethany Village, Centerville, OH.
