Ronald E. Jergens, age 73, passed away on January 23, 2023.
Ron is survived by his Kindergarten sweetheart and later beloved wife of 53 years, Deborah McGirr Jergens, daughters; Nora (Matt Geary) Fogt and Julie (Ron) VanDeWeerd, grandchildren; Ciara (Trevor Cuzner) Atkinson, Travis, Dylan and Brandon Roark, Gabrielle VanDeWeerd, Isabella Fogt, Brett, T.J. and Logan VanDeWeerd, Conner Brown, Josie Geary; and many special great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Ed & Reva Jergens, in laws, Virgil & Mary McGirr, son-in-law Kevin Fogt.
Ron started his career as a Manager of Liberals Markets. Later on, he transitioned to Stumps Market, where he was employed for 23 years. In 1984, he joined partnership as an owner/operator of M&J's Shop and Save, where he worked until 1995. In the fall of 1994, Ron began his career as a District Manager Supervisor at Save-A-Lot. Ron spent many years there. Ron was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time at his house on Lake St. Mary's, boating, fishing and golfing. He loved grilling out, but his greatest love was spending time with his family.
Ron was the kindest soul you would have ever met. He was a BIG Ohio State and Cincinnati Bengals fan, and he could not wait for the Bengals to win the Super Bowl 2023!
Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd) on Tuesday January 31, 2023 from 5 pm to 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Luke Parish in Beavercreek, OH on Wednesday February 1, 2023 at 10:30 am. he will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
