Ronald G. Campbell

Ronald Guy Campbell, one of six children, was born January 9th, 1924 in Union Township, Auglaize County, Ohio, outside of Wapakoneta. He passed away on May 11th, 2010 at Southview Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. He was the son of George Burton and Mary Frances Parsell Campbell. He was preceded in death by his father (1959) and mother (1972), by his sister Ruth Ann (1970), his twin brother Robert Milo (1987), his brother George Earl (1998), and another brother John Wesley (1981). His wife, Ethel Marie Wood Campbell, passed away on November 2nd, 2008. Ronald and Ethel were married on July 31st, 1948. Ronald is survived by his daughter Karen S. Campbell, his brother David Burton Campbell, and his nephew Charles Edward Wood. He was a graduate of Blume High School in 1941 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. After his service in the military during World War II, he graduated from Miami-Jacobs College in Dayton, Ohio November 28th, 1947. He had also attended Hills Business University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ronald Guy Campbell was a soldier in the United States Army Air Force during World War II, from 1943 to 1945. He served in the 318th Air Service Group, in 9th Troop Carrier Command of the Ninth Air Force. Ronald was trained at Barksdale Field, Louisiana and served at Reading, England; Rheims, France; and Kassel, Germany; before being discharged from Indian Town Gap, Pa., with the rank of Sergeant. Upon returning from the Armed Services he attended Miami-Jacobs College, Dayton, Ohio, prior to his marriage to Ethel Marie Wood in 1948. Ronald received his Certified Public Accounting Degree in Ohio in 1955. He practiced public accounting for fifteen years with a local accounting firm, Carney and Vlahos. He then was employed as controller for Apex Tool Division of Cooper Industries, Inc. for twenty-five years. Ronald was a lifetime member of The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants. Ronald served as the treasurer of the College Hill Hospital board for many years. He was the auditor of Miami Valley Hospital also.
Ronald was ordained an elder in the Presbyterian Church at the age of thirty, remaining a member of the Presbyterian Church for over fifty years. Ronald was a member of Dayton Lodge, #147 F. & A. M. for over 35 years, served as Master during the years 1981-1982, and then served as Treasurer of the Masonic Lodge for over ten years. Viewing will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, South Chapel, located at 3940 Kettering Blvd., in Kettering on Friday evening from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be on Saturday at 10:30 AM in the chapel at the David's Cemetery Memorial Mausoleum located at 4600 Mad River Road, Kettering, Ohio. In lieu of flowers please made donations to the Westminster Presbyterian Church located at 125 N. Wilkinson Street.
