Ronald Leroy Elliott Sr.

June 2, 1940 — April 8, 2020

Elliott, Ronald L. "Ronnie" Sr., 79 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Hospice of Dayton with his family at his side. Ronald was born June 2, 1940 in Dayton, Ohio to James and Marjorie (Englert) Elliott who precede him in death, also preceding him in death is his son Rick Elliott, sister Delores "Dee" Walter, brother Robert "Bob" Elliott.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 32 years, HenryAnn (Garries) Elliott, children Ronald Jr. "Little Ronnie" (Becky) Elliott, Robert "Bobby" Elliott, Mary (Joseph) Elliott-Zagar, John Edward "Eddie" Elliott, also surviving are his step-children, Mark Garries, Mary (Jack) Banks-Eversole, Lois (Tom) Rife, Billy Stacy, Floyd (Becky) Stacy, Debbie (Rodney) Browning, brother James "Jimmy" Elliott, numerous grand, great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Ronnie enjoyed several careers and was actively involved in his community. He was a hard worker who was well known and liked. He worked his way up the ladder to become the caption on the Harrison Township Fire Department during this 14 year of service before entering into a career and retiring from landscaping work with a subcontracting company for Dayton Power and Light. Then he entered into another career as an armed security guard before deciding to start his own landscaping business with his wife until his health would no longer allow him to work.

In between his active working careers, Ronnie made time to coach a Little League Baseball Team which his sons participated in for 5 years. He also participated in the Citizens on Patrol for the City of Trotwood. Then in his spare time during his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and belonged to a bowling league for 8 years with his son.

Ronnie was actively involved in his church. First as a Deacon at Victory Hill Church of God and on their Board of Directors, he then was a requested soloist for The Open Door Church of God. He was honored for the opportunity to serve his church and enjoyed fellowshipping with his brothers and sisters in Christ.

Ronnie battled a long hard battle with several health issues for many years. But through it all, he loved his family and God. He accepted the hand that he was dealt to him and lived his life in a meaningful and caring manner. Ronnie assured his family and friends that when his time came to pass from this life to his eternal life in the gloriously heaven of God, he was ready and for everyone to be at peace with it as he was. Now the time has come, (way too soon for us) to come together to celebrate his life and time with us, we can rejoice that another soul has entered into the heavenly home of God.to live forever in a new body that is pain free, healthy and happy.

The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to all the health care providers who attended to Ronnie's care during his 15 days in ICU at Miami Valley Hospital, 7 days at Kindred, and the last 24 hours at Hospice of Dayton. We appreciate you all and are eternally grateful for all your support and comfort. Especially at Hospice of Dayton, we could not have asked for better end of life care during these difficult times with all the restrictions and limitations that we all faced.

Private services will be held at the convenience of his family. Arrangements entrusted to Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Dayton North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery with Reverend Steve Thompson (Ronnie's lifelong friend) presiding.
