Ronald "Ronnie" Chappell

Ronald (Ronnie) Chappell, 74, of Celina, Ohio, passed away on February 14, 2025.

Ronnie was born to Covy Chappell and Gwendolyn Wampler on February 14, 1951, in Hoskingston, Kentucky. He married his teenage love, Elaine Steffen Wolf, on June 18, 1970. They were married for 51 years before she preceded him in death on October 18, 2021.

They had three children: Rhonda (Bryan) Vest, Robert (Heather) Chappell, and Bryan (Heather) Chappell.

He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Ronnie Lee Chappell (Megan), Destanie Wombold (Tyler), Brieanna Park (Andy), Macy Chappell (Michael), Gwendolyn Chappell, Samuel Chappell, Brennen Chappell, and Allen Vest.

He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Cayden Wombold, Covy Brown, Payton Wombold, Michael Wombold, Walker Wombold, and Griffin Michael Bilevich and Peyton Christopher Gillig

Ronnie retired from General Motors as a job setter after 30 years.

In the 1980s, he served as a coach and vice president for Wayne Pee Wee Football. He loved coaching both of his boys and being a role model for other kids, teaching them the fundamentals of football, life lessons, and the importance of teamwork.

He was the owner of Hecht's Landing General Store in Celina, where he loved taking care of his friends, making sure the drinks were cold, and ensuring the kids had plenty of candy.

Ronnie loved fishing, boating, and spending time with his family and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 24, 2025 from 11:30am to 12:30pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424. The funeral service will begin at 12:30pm.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Ave., Dayton, OH 45409.
