FINNELL, Rolland "Ron" Eugene
Age 83, passed away August 11, 2014. He was born April 12, 1931 to the late, William and Ruth (Smith) Finnell.
Ron and his 10 siblings were raised on a farm in Coshocton, OH. He married Fyetta "Peg" Mae Krieger on May 23, 1953. Together they enjoyed traveling the world during his 23 years of service in the United States Air Force. Ron retired as a Master Sergeant and served in Korea and the Vietnam War. After retirement, Ron and Peg settled their family in Dayton, OH.
He became an entrepreneur and ran Finnell Vinyl Repair for thirty years, traveling to dealerships and private owners from Cincinnati to Columbus. Ron was instrumental in the establishment and construction of Forest Ridge Baptist Church and was an active Deacon for many years.
He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed rooting for the Reds, Bengals, and Buckeyes. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Rolland was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peg; infant daughter, Diana; and son, William Ricky. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Charles, Wayne, Roger Dean, William "Junior", James Gail, and Larry; sisters, Betty Hook and Shirley Bickel.
He is survived by his children, Karin, Victoria, Patrick, Joan (Robert), Timothy (Kimberly), and Dawn, 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Donald (Elizabeth) Finnell. The family will receive friends, Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd.
