Roland R. Weeks
93, of Tipp City, passed away September 19, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Pinkie, children Judi (Jack) Viers and Rick (Petra) Weeks, 4 grandchildren (Leah, Scott, Nick, and Ben), 5 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Roland was a graduate of Fairview High School, class of 1940. He attended Wittenberg University and University of Dayton prior to entering the Army Air Corp during World War II. Roland and Pinkie were married 71 years ago in Marianna, Florida, where Roland received his wings to fly P-47s. Roland completed many combat missions in the Pacific theater, and after the war joined the Ohio Air National Guard. He was a charter member of the 162nd fighter squadron in Vandalia, Ohio, and flew P-51s. He went on to obtain an Associate's Degree from Sinclair Community College and graduated with honors. Roland was a member of the Millennium Lodge 779 and a Scottish Rite 32nd degree mason. He retired as Director of Field Engineering from Standard Register Company in 1989.
Roland was not only a great father and grandfather, but also a wonderful great-grandfather to April, Danielle, and Brett, who always loved to come to Grandpa's and Grandma's house. He also enjoyed watching his other great-grandchildren, Lyndsay and Sydney, play competitive softball in Youngstown, Ohio. Roland loved to golf and enjoyed keeping his lawn immaculate. He often played 18 holes of golf in the morning, and then mowed his lawn in the afternoon.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Ethel Weeks, and his brother, Elvin "Bud" Weeks, and sister, Marlene Harding.
Roland loved a good martini and parties. He especially enjoyed being able to celebrate his 90th birthday party with all his friends and family. He was always there for his family, and never let anybody down. He will be missed by everyone.
