AUSTIN, Roger L., age 77 of Beavercreek, has gone to be with our Lord on December 12, 2016. Roger was born in Urbana, Ohio on March 13, 1939 to the late Howard V. Austin and Fannie E. (Boyd) Austin Hendricks. He was educated in the Urbana City Schools. Roger was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals, and auto racing. He and his wife of 58 years, Patricia did almost everything together.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Rory K Austin; sister, Betty M. Murray; half-brother, Leonard A. Austin, brothers-in-law, William Murray and Richard Hurst; step-sister, Margie James; step-mother, Lula Austin; and step-father, Stanley Hendricks.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia A (Stayrook) Austin of Beavercreek; daughter, Ronda L (Austin) Massie of Kettering; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney L. and Lexi Austin of Beavercreek; 2 granddaughters, Shauna (Michael) Jones of Beavercreek, and Lindsay L Austin of Beavercreek; grandson, Ryan L Austin of Beavercreek; great-grandsons, Tobey, Micah, Brynan, and Rylan; sisters, Jean Hurst and Gloria (Steve) Smith; dearest friend since age 3, Patrick Gunsaulies, who was more of a brother than friend; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Roger loved his friends and family very much.
Roger was employed at NCR for 15 and a half years in the final inspection department. From NCR he was employed at American General Life Insurance Company (formerly known as National Life Insurance Company) as a sales manager. He retired from AGL&A Co. in February 1995 after 22 and a half years of service. He then became a currier with Capital Express and retired from there in April 2005. He is so loved and will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11am at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel. The family will greet friends and loved ones for two hours prior (9am-11am). Burial to follow at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery in Beavercreek.
