Rodney Delmar Rounds, 48, of Dayton, Ohio passed away Tuesday July 8, 2014. He was born May 11, 1966 in Dayton, Ohio.
Rodney attended Southview School and graduated in 1988. He worked at several places over the years: Pizza Hut with his brother, Ponderosa, Arby's, local supermarket. He also worked many years at Monco and then transferred to the Liberty Center.
Rodney has travelled extensively to Hawaii (several times), Seattle, Canada, California, Arizona and Disney World in Florida.
He belonged to a dance group called "Movin On" where in 1989 he and his dancing partner, Kathy Osterman were chosen to attend the special arts festival in Washington D.C. They performed for the president and also met Kenny Rogers (his favorite singer) and Crystal Gayle. Because of this achievement he is now inducted into Montgomery County Hall of Fame on March 30, 1990.
He played various sports in his lifetime; soccer, basketball and bowling. He also participated in Special Olympics every year. He also wouldn't miss a dance that MVDSA had every month.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph, survived by his mother: Lorraine. Brothers: Jack, Rick, Gary and Greg. Sisters: Penny, Cheryl, Pam, Becky, Robin and DeDe. He has numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Rodney was a pure hearted soul who blessed many peoples lives along his life. He enjoyed life and brought love wherever he went. We will greatly miss him and have been blessed by his presence in his life. Enjoy your journey in heaven Rod!
Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at St. Helen's Church, 605 Granville Pl., Dayton, with burial following at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton.
