Rodney V. Jackson Sr. aka "Bandit" was born September 21, 1949, to the late Lowell R. Jackson and Mary T. Jackson, in Dayton Ohio. He was properly known as “Bandit”. Rodney was a Baptist and was a former member of Greater Love Christian Church under Bishop Barringer where he served as a Deacon and member of the Usher Board.
He was a very spiritual person and loved to help anyone. He was well liked by many people. He loves to travel, attending the Motorcycle Roundups and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Rodney was also a member of “Bad to The Bone MC of Dayton Ohio and Rodney loved listening to music. Rodney was an Alumni of Paul Laurence Dunbar High, Class of 1968. He joined the United States Air Force (USAF) on December 4, 1968, where he earned his GED and became an Aircraft Hydraulic Repairman and an Aircraft Mechanic Heating and Ventilation.
He did his term of duty in the USAF as an Airman and received his Honorable Discharge. He worked for General Motors Harrison Radiator for over 20 years until he retired. Rodney then came out of retirement to work for Miamisburg Logistics Inc. for 4 years as a Truck Driver. Rodney left his earthly home on Sunday, June 30, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lowell R. Jackson and Mary T. Jackson, younger brother Forest “Jack” Jackson, brother Steve Miller, brother-in-law Raymond Johnson and a special friend/family Gwendolyn Jackson.
Rodney leaves behind his wife of 35-years, Vickie Jackson, two daughters, Patricia Mackey of AR, Yolanda (Ronald) Woodcock of IL, three sons, Rodney V. Jackson Jr, Shawn Hope and Quincey Jackson of Dayton Ohio, brothers Kenneth (Sue) Jackson, John and Bob Miller, one sister Sheryl Johnson of Dayton Ohio, 12 Grandchildren, 10 Great- Grandchildren, one Great-great grandson ,a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, his best friend Thomas James Anderson aka “Pork Chop”, Joe Smith and Tony Bess.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 11am-12pm at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 5370 Dayton-Liberty Rd, Dayton, OH 45417. The service will follow at 12pm.
Rodney will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery at a later date.
