Roberta M. Sharp (nee: Benham)
Age 86 of Centerville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at her home.
Roberta was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Raymond H. Sharp; two brothers, James Benham & Lyle Benham; and by one sister, Betty Beck.
Roberta is survived by four daughters, Susan Nordyke, Margaret Logan, Linda (Charles) Dekranis & Carol (Jim) Carleton; seven grandchildren, Alexandra, Kimberly (Joe) Ilagan, Jillian, Christopher, Mitchell, Joshua and Olivia; one great granddaughter, Anastasia; and by her extended family & many good friends.
Roberta was a very active member of Grace United Methodist Church for the past 62 years where among other things she served on the Administrative Board, the Board of Trustees, chair of the Missions Committee and was president of the United Methodist Women.
In addition to her activities with the church she was involved with the family owned business, Benham Catering. She was a volunteer at Cox Arboretum beginning in 1966, she held many positions including Foundation President and was an integral part of the building committee. She has continued to volunteer weekly by answering the phones and greeting visitors.
Roberta believed in Girl Scouting. She was a troop leader, a camper, the neighborhood cookie chairperson and later was the Buckeye Trails Cookie Chairperson. She was the council president and as a national volunteer she helped develop the "Minority Presence" statement.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, at Grace United Methodist Church, 1001 Harvard Blvd., Dayton, Ohio 45406. A reception will follow in the church parlor.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Roberta to either Grace UMC, Cox Arboretum or the Centerville Library.
