Roberta "Bertie" Hayes
Age 75, of Riverside, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2006, at her daughter's home after a brief illness.
Granny was born August 19, 1930 in Hazard, KY to Samuel & Sabie (Cox) Smith, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, George Hayes, Jr., who died in 1976.
Granny is survived one daughter and son-in-law, Lois & Robert Webb of Riverside; five sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Joe & Ginger Hayes of FL, Danny Ray & Barb Hayes of FL., Douglas Franklin & Cathy Hayes of FL., Lewis & Shelley Hayes of Riverside, Timothy & Becky Hayes of Riverside; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Pastor William Loudermilk will officiate. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 8:00, Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer that contributions be made to Hospice of Dayton (324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420) in appreciation for the wonderful care they provided to Granny during her last days.
