Robert J. “Bob” Whittridge went home to Jesus on September 3rd, 2024, at the age of 86 years. Bob was born in Springfield, Ohio on April 13, 1938, the son of Wilbur and Martha Whittridge. Bob grew up in Fairborn, Ohio and graduated from Fairborn High School in 1956. Shortly thereafter, he served honorably in the Ohio Air National Guard in Springfield, Ohio, rising to the rank of E-5. After his honorable discharge from the Air National Guard, he worked at NCR where he became a tool and die maker. During this time, he met the love of his life, Marcia.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marcia; daughter, Kim; son, David and his wife, Heather, along with their children, Rachael and Benjamin. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Martha, and his brother, Dale. Bob was a devoted husband, brother, dad, and grandpa.
Bob’s life can be defined through his lifelong passion for volunteerism, eventually spanning more than 50 years, beginning with serving on the Beavercreek Fire Department for 12 years, 6 of which were as the District Chief of Station 4. He also served as Cubmaster for Pack 56 in Beavercreek and later as scoutmaster of Troop 149 in Kettering, Ohio, taking pride in helping to develop boys into respectable young men through the Scouting program. Bob attended the inaugural class of the Beavercreek Citizens On Preventative Patrol (C.O.P.P.) program, working closely with the Beavercreek Police Department and serving as the program coordinator for 17 years. He retired from Standard Register where he worked as the Engineering Machine Shop manager. Bob and Marcia chose to live in Beavercreek for over 50 years before moving to Fort Myers, Florida fulltime. In Florida, he continued to volunteer his time in the Jamaica Bay Watch program, which ensures the health and welfare of the residents in the community in which he lived as well as participating in the Veterans Club of Jamaica Bay.
Bob was a proud member of the Masons for over 50 years at the Beavercreek Lodge #753 and the Scottish Rite. He achieved the level of 33rd degree.
