Robert Shideler

Bob passed away at the home of his dear friends and caregivers, Steve and Dorothy Blaine, and their son Matthew, in Tennessee. He lived in Dayton most of his life until a year ago when he became ill. The Blaines then took him into their home to care for him, where he passed away on Sept. 3, 2010.
He was born to Maude and Earl Shideler of Dayton, on Oct. 2, 1928 and grew up during the Depression. His parents both passed away early, so he spent much of his time with his 2 older sisters, Ellen and Alice, and their families. He served in the Army during the Korean War and after was employed at various times by NCR, Frigidaire and GM. He also volunteered with the Boy Scouts and the Salvation Army. He was a good man who enjoyed a good life with many loyal friends, and will be greatly missed.
Also survived by niece Sue Kelius and husband Bill from California, Jim Repp and son Terry from Englewood, and Gary Kaser from Cincinnati, and other friends. He was predeceased by his sisters Ellen Davis and Alice Friedly.
Service and burial at Dayton Memorial Park, 8135 North Dixie Drive, on Thursday September 9, at 10:00 AM. Arrangements in care of Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel).
