Robert P. Smith, lovingly known to all as "Bob", passed away on May 2, 2024. He was born on February 27, 1930 to the late Georgia and Anthony Smith.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. He continued his service afterwards in the Navy Reserves. He retired in 1989 from General Motors after working there for over 30 years. Bob loved to go fishing and camping. He enjoyed traveling and listening to Jazz music, and he could often be found bowling with his best friend, Ray.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, David (Pat); and his brothers: Blair (Jean) and Joe (Nancy).
His memory will be cherished by the love of his life, married for almost 74 years, Lillie Smith; his daughter, Kindall (Julius) King; grandchildren: Jordan (Christina), Josh and Emily (Zachary); great-grandchildren: Ellynor, David, Quenton, and Cole; and many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to Heartland Hospice nurses: Talia, Christina, April, Cassidy and Alicia; Bob's caregiver, Craig; his hairdresser, Pam; his niece, Becky for support to the family; to their neighbors, Tammy, Ron, and Doug; to the women from Medway Baptist Church: Dreama, Sharon, Pat, Barb, and Betty; and to their Pastor, Nathan for scriptures and prayer. Your love and support is unmeasurable.
Family and friends are welcome to gather from 10:00am to 11:30am on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, where the Memorial Service will begin at 11:30am, officiated by Pastor Nathan Esposito. Following the service, Bob will be laid to rest at Belbrook Cemetery.
