Robert Chester Smith

Robert Chester "Bob" Smith, age 75, of Dayton, passed away on September 7, 2022, at his home. He was born in San Francisco, California, on April 22, 1947, the son of the late Chester and Frances Smith.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Andrea Smith; children, Jennifer (David) Mantle, Robert Charles (Connie Akane) Smith, Sabrina McCarthy and Meagan Smith; step-children, Robert (Rosie) Hoel, Jamie (John) Rowe, Andrew Hoel and Dustin (Ashlee) Hoel; 15 grandchildren; sisters, Sara Nelson and Marion Collins; and many other loving family and friends.
He served his country proudly by serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years in a variety of roles with various companies. He was a member of the VFW Chapter 97 for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed watching football, working on his Military Medals and spending time with his wife and grandkids. Bob never knew a stranger and was always quick to share a story. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside Military Honors will be held privately with the family at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio.
