Robert J. Sheriff (Bob), 95 years of age, passed on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 2:45 am.
Bob was born on July 29, 1923 to Harry and Charlotte (Pinkerton) Sheriff and was a life-long resident of the Dayton, Ohio area. He married Delores (Bergman) Sheriff in 1942. Bob was constantly by his wife's side during her life-long illness. Delores died in 1983. He married Hazel (Robbins) Sheriff in 1984. Hazel died in 2010. Bob was very blessed in his life by these two wonderful women.
Bob is survived by his son Gary and daughter-in-law Karen of Bellbrook, Ohio. He is also survived by his two grandchildren; Glenn of Tipp City, Ohio, and Darrin of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, and his great-grandson Nicholas of Columbus, Ohio.
Bob was preceded in death also by his son Robert (Bobby) and his brothers Dick, Jim, and Jack.
Bob served in the Army from February 1943 to December 1945. During his service he came on shore the day after D-Day in Normandy, France. He was also active at Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe.
He and his brother, Jim Sheriff, purchased Sheriff Electric Service from their father in 1952. Bob was sole owner of the company from 1962 to 2015. He often talked about his experiences around the Dayton area and his wonderful relationships with his customers.
Other than work and family, Bob's great love was fishing. He lived to fish on Lake Erie almost every weekend from April through November for 45 years. He liked to talk about the "fish that got away" along with the multitudes that he caught and ate. He had great memories about his time at the lake and his wonderful friends and neighbors at his second home on Lake Erie.
Bob accepted Christ as his savor at the age of 92 when he understood what Jesus had done for him on the cross. So, he was confident that he would live eternally in heaven.
There will be no service per Bob's request.
