Robert William Shade

Robert William Shade, age 82 of Riverside, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born May 7, 1940 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Virgil and Yvonne Shade.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed spending time outdoors in his garden, fishing and tinkering on cars. Most dear to his heart was his family, especially his grandchildren. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Leroy Shade and Janet Shade.

Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary; children, Robert (Wendy) Shade Jr., Dee Dee Martin, Angel (Dale Watts) Shade, Sean Shade and Justin (Jennifer) Shade; grandchildren, Robert Shade III, Brittany Shade, Krystal (Mark Lee) Shade, Ryan (Andres Paiva) Shade, Dillon Shade, Cameron (Salma Bouzakti) Shade, Ashley (David) Benallo, Jackson Shade and Aubrey Shade; great grandchildren, Macie Shade, Laiken Shade and Angel Bell Lee; siblings, Shirley (Lloyd) Smallwood and Ronald (Jodi) Shade; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Shade and many other loving family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation in Robert's honor.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). Service will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with burial to follow at Willow View Cemetery.
