Robert "Sha" Rivers
March 12, 1957 - March 2, 2024
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Robert "Sha" Rivers of Dayton, Ohio, on March 2, 2024, at the age of 66 years. Born on March 12, 1957, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Mildred and Harold Rivers, Sha was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew him. Sha was preceded in death by his siblings Reggie Rivers, Delroy Rivers, and Veronica Rivers. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his wife, Beverly Rivers; his son, Shamel Rivers (Kate); his nephew, Keshawn Rivers; his beloved grandchildren, Christopher Rivers, Sydney Rivers, London Rivers, Zahra Rivers, and bonus grandchild, Savannah Ely; as well as his older siblings, Harold "Sonny" Rivers Jr. and Shirley Rivers-Smith. Sha's journey took him from the streets of Brooklyn to the heart of Dayton, Ohio, in 1987,where he made his home and enriched the lives of those around him. A talented furrier working in the Garment District of New York City, Sha's true passion was for jazz music, a love that led him to a fulfilling career as a disc jockey for over three decades. His musical legacy touched countless lives, bringing joy and rhythm to every occasion. Sha will be fondly remembered for his infectious laughter, his unwavering kindness, and his profound dedication to his family and friends. He was a mentor, a confidant, and a friend to many, known for his generous spirit and his ability to make everyone feel welcome. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Subrena (Denise) Rivers, Kevin Rivers, Andre (Nicole) Rivers, Maia Rivers, Kia Rivers, Michael (Nikki) Prego, Brian Prego, and Brittany Cooper along with late nephews Anthony Prego and Michael "Calieb" Jones, who will hold his memory dear in their hearts. Sha's journey on earth may have come to an end, but his melody will forever play on in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest in peace, dear Sha. You will be deeply missed,but never forgotten. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45459). Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am.
