WEST, Robert Perry, age 95 of Dayton, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2016. He was born in Dayton to the late Lennie and William West. Robert proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. During his service he was a P.O.W. held by German forces. He earned 3 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He was a avid golfer and had 5 holes-in-one. He was an active member at Fairhaven Church for many years. Robert was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Clarence, Eugene, Martha, and Margaret.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 67 years, Freda West; children, Margaret (Grover) Degler, Nancy (Rick) Comingore, Ruth Eshbaugh, and Mary (James) Sunkes; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; and many loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 11am at Fairhaven Church (Centerville), where the family will be greeting friends and loved ones for one hour prior (10am-11am). Burial to follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's memory to Fairhaven Church.
