RATLIFF, Robert Neal age 79 of Richmond Ave., Dayton, departed this life on Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Kettering Memorial Hospital. Bob was a life-long Dayton resident, born July 3, 1926 to Helen (Gopperton) Ratliff and Vernon Ratliff, both deceased. He was preceded in death by Elaine (Fitzmartin) Ratliff, his beloved wife of 30 years and his loving companion of later years, Nancy Rodgers. He is survived by his daughter Helen M. Ratliff-Meredith and husband Ron Meredith; grandson and honorary granddaughter Kris Meredith and Amber DeLaGarza; great grandson Damian Meredith; sister Vicky Weddle and husband Don; nephews Brent and Bryan Forgy; good friends Joan and Mike Means, Bessie Kourt-Williams; his most loved dog, Burt; and all of his friends and neighbors of Richmond and Neal Avenues. Bob served in the US Navy in WWII aboard the USS Concord as the ship fired the last Navy salvo of WWII on August 12, 1945. For many years he was a member of the Dayton City Police Dept. He also worked for the Shannon Buick Co. and later retired from Dayton Walther Corp., Security. Bob will be forever remembered for his absolute love of animals, spirit of patriotism and unbridled devotion to his daughter. "Daddy, until we meet again, hurt no more and remember, I love you."
