MULLIGAN, Robert A. (Bob), age 94, passed away on September 3, 2014. He was born to Andrew A. and J. Margaret (Staas) Mulligan and lived in Capron, Illinois with siblings Margaret, William and Aileen.
Bob attended University of Illinois where he joined R.O.T.C. and was trained in horse-drawn artillery. Immediately after graduating in 1942 with a degree in marketing, he joined the Army Air Reserves and served in WWII. After the war, he joined the newly formed Air Force and in Shreveport, Louisiana, met his future wife Christine Maxwell who was an Army nurse there. They lived in Texas, Spain, and Colorado, before Bob retired as a lieutenant colonel in Beavercreek.
He was preceded in death by Chris, his wife of 63 years. He leaves daughters Jean and Nancy, son-in-law Jim Koelker, grandsons Neil and Ryan Koelker, great-grandsons Dane and Dash Koelker and many wonderful friends and neighbors. Bob was a reserved, down-to-earth man who served his Country, paid his taxes and took care of his family, who were very important to him. He enjoyed traveling, refinishing antique furniture, and pontificating about politics and the state of the Nation to anyone who would listen. In keeping with Roberts wishes, there will be no service at this time. The family plans to have a private service at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of your choice.
