Jarrell, Robert Lankford (Bob) Sr., Master Sergeant USAF (Ret), was called home on Monday, December 3, 2012.
He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, father Steve Lawton Jarrell, mother Viola Brewer, brothers, Frank Jarrell, Oliver Jarrell, Steve Jarrell, JR, Ray Jarrell, and son Robert L. Jarrell JR.
Robert retired from the Air Force and Air Force Reserves after serving 37 years. He is also retired from General Motors after 35 years. He served on the Verona, Ohio Police Department. After that he served at Gratis, Ohio Police Department where he rose from Sergeant to Chief. He ended his police career at New Paris, Ohio Police Department where he also served as chief. Robert was an avid gun collector and motorcycle enthusiast who lived his life to the full every day. He was a hardworking man who always saw the good in people. His life-light was fierce and felt by everyone he met. He was a great father, son, brother, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Karen Yoakum (Michael), Lorie Tester (Michael) and Jeannie Jarrell-Turner (Jason). Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, Meagan, Addam, Cameron, Jacob, and Krislyn, great-grandchildren Mackenzie and Marlee and nephew Frank Jarrell. He also leaves several friends and colleagues including a special close circle of friends who have been like family to all of us. Special thanks must also be given to the terrific people at Hospice of Dayton, who gave so much care, compassion and dignity to Dad in his final days.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, OH, Friday December 7, 2012 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm with funeral services on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Dayton or the National Rifle Association in Robert's memory.
