Robert L. Swankhouse Jr., age 78, of Kettering, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008. He was born in Dayton on March 23, 1930 to the late Robert Sr. and Marcella Swankhouse. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in 1948. Bob was a resident of Dayton for 55 years, and had retired to IndianLake for 16 years. He served 18 years on the Dayton Fire Department, where he became a captain. Bob retired as a plumber from the General Motors Plant in Kettering. He was a master Mason and Scottish Rite. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Judy (Lyons) Swankhouse; daughter Robin (Templin) McKenzie of Dayton, OH.; son David (Gail) Swankhouse of Bradford OH.; daughter Shelley (Scott) Turner Sorensen of Kettering, OH.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Joan Queen; many nieces and nephews; and many other friends and relatives. Their will be a committal service on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 11:30AM at Dayton Memorial Park for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton where Bob left all of his angels behind, to give wonderful care to others. Thank you Hospice. Bob was known and loved by many.
