Robert L. Cartwright

Cartwright, Robert L., age 93, of Centerville, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Robert was preceded in death by his wife: Florence in 1995 and son: Michael in 1945. He is survived by one daughter: Arliss Cartwright; two sons: Dennis L. Cartwright & wife: Sandie of New Port Richey, Florida & Douglas D. Cartwright of Kettering; grandchildren: Stefanie Cartwright daCosta & Dain, Jesse & Alyson Stocksdale; 2 great grandchildren: Ava & Branton daCosta. Robert was a very loving husband, father & grandfather. He was a Christian man who was a friend to all and a stranger to none…those who met him will not soon forget him. He attended Apex Church in Centerville and was a member of American Legion, Miamisburg Post. He served in the United States Army during WWII from 1937 until 1945 and went on to work at the Dayton V.A. for ten years. He retired from WPAFB where he served as a contracting officer. Family and friends will gather on Monday, September 19, 2011 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel) 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery in West Alexandria, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in memory of Robert.
