Robert L."Bob" Smith

Smith, Robert L., age 67, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away May 13, 2014. Bob was also known as The Muhammad Ali of Cancer and after 6 ½ years, the final bell rang. He was born in Dayton, Ohio March 26, 1947.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years Paula, daughter Laura Smith Morelock (Kelly); step-son Eric Knopp; and adored Grandson Spencer; Nephews Nicky Green and family and Danny Green and family; Aunts: Nellie, Betty, Marie, Sue, Shirley and Virginia; Mother-in-Law Frances Brannan, In-Laws: The Entire Brannan Clan, and his extended family at Indian Lake.

Bob was preceded in death by his sister Helen Green and Parents: Ada and Robert W. Smith.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, 1:00-3:00pm, and a Celebration of Life beginning at 3:00 at Newcomer Funeral Home – South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, Ohio. There will be a gathering for family and friends following the services at Springhaven Condominiums Clubhouse Miamisburg, Ohio.

A special Thank you to Hospice of Dayton. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Gregory Gordon and his entire staff at Cancer Specialists of Greater Dayton, Surgeon Dr. James Oulette, and Radiologist Dr. Shannon Kauffman. We thank them. They were "The Miracle Team" who remained in his corner allowing his fight to go the distance, Bob never threw in the towel!
