Robert K. Staten, born December 9, 1929 in West Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Wilbur and Ola Staten, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Carol S. (Jones) Staten; children, Larry K. Staten and wife, Janis, Trenette L. Staten. He was "Uncle Bob" to Roy Peyton and wife, Jerri, and Stanley Peyton. Bob is also survived by his step-children, Lucretia (Jay) Gillis, Marc Clark, 12 grandchildren; 5 great- grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, brother, Ronald Staten and wife, Gayle, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Virginia, step-daughter, Shelly Clark and 7 siblings. Bob was a proud Veteran, serving his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Army. He had a very colorful life. Bob loved Western movies and was an adventurer at heart. He loved telling stories and told many throughout his life. Bob loved to "cut a rug" and was quite an accomplished dancer. He enjoyed treasure hunting , was an inventor and loved animals.
Visitation will be held from 11:30am until 1:00pm Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, where funeral service will follow at 1:00pm. Burial, with Army honors, at Dayton National Cemetery.
