WIRT, Robert J. "Bob", age 77 of Huber Heights and formerly of Piqua, passed away Monday, October 9, 2006 at Hospice of Dayton. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Bob served aboard the USS Manchester, and was also active in the Piqua Eagles and the Huber Heights VFW and AMVETS. He also attended Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Laura Wirt; half-brothers, Tommy, Edward "Ed", Johnny, and Joe Galligan; half-sister, Ellen (Galligan) Gilmore; sister, Pauline (Wirt) Dubeansky; son-in-law, Steve Martin; and fellow turtle trapper, Mick McMaken. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Doris (Clarkson) Wirt; his children and their spouses: Rhonda (Tom) Orr, Judy (Doug) MacKellar, Peggy Martin, Sherry (Dave) Hyder, Bobby Wirt, Doug (Stephanie) Wirt; 13 grandchildren, including "special buddy" Chad and his fiancee Nicki; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings: John (Phyllis) Wirt and Edie (John) Williams; special sister-in-law, Marge McMaken; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and special friends Gary Buzza and Louie Martin. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Thursday, October 12, 2006 at the Newcomer Funeral Home (4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton). Visitation will be at the funeral home 5-8:00PM Wednesday, October 11TH and one hour prior to services. Burial at Forest Hills Cemetery, Piqua.
