OVERLA, Robert H., age 78, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008. He was born July 21, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #321 and a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing pool with his buddies that he worked with at Delco Products for 35 years. After his retirement he still enjoyed spending time with his work friends but the most memorable times were spent traveling out west with his family over the last few years. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Fay Overla; three children, Diana Overla of Huber Heights, OH, Robert J. (Christy) Overla of Columbus, OH, and Douglas C. Overla of Topeka, KS; four grandchildren, Sarah, Shane (Missy), Samuel, and Solomon Overla all of Columbus, OH; long time best buddy, Gale Garman; several sister and brother-in-law's, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse J. and Doris (Deer) Overla and one sister, Inez Norman. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 12, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel with Pastor Phil DeLorme officiating. Gathering of friends and family will be from 2-4 p.m. If desired, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton or the National Kidney Foundation.
