Robert L. Goodman Sr., age 78 of Dayton, passed away peacefully under hospice care on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center. He was born September 8, 1945 in LaFollette, Tennessee.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda Lou Goodman; and grandson, Christopher J. Weitz.
Robert is survived by his children, Theresa (John) Michalos, Pamela (Joe) Weitz and Robert "Bob" (Heidi) Goodman, Jr.; grandchildren, Johnny and Sophie Michalos, Kyle (Kayla) Bias, Kelsey (Daniel) Smith, Josie Weitz, Bobby, Brendan and Brady Goodman; great-grandchildren, Christian, June, and Sadie Bias and one great-grandson on the way; sister, Carole Jackson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, colleagues, and dear friends.
Robert had his start in life in Elk Valley, Tennessee and then moved to Dayton as a young child. He was a 1963 graduate of Stebbins High School and furthered his education by earning an apprenticeship through the University of Dayton. He went on to start his own pattern making business, Design Technologies, in 1983 until retiring in 2016. He was also an active member of St. John's Masonic Lodge where he was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Elk Lodge in West Carrollton. Robert was a skilled musician, having played multiple instruments, and was also a founding member of Car Cave Car Club. Most importantly, Robert cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with many fond memories of Brookville Lake in Indiana.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, OH 45459). Funeral will begin at 12 pm, with a masonic service. He will be laid to rest with his wife, Linda, at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, OH. Robert's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
