Robert James "Bobby" Combs, age 72, of Kettering passed away on February 25, 2024. He was born in Dayton on January 13, 1952 to the late Ray and Betty Combs. In addition to his parents, Bobby is preceded in death by his brother, Danny Combs.
Bobby is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Askander; sisters, Phyllis (Walt) Wilson, Shelly (Mark) Kussman; sister-in-law, Debbie Combs; nephews, Kevin Combs, Bryan Combs, Todd Combs, Paul Combs; niece, Kylee Kussman and longtime girlfriend, Patricia Wysong; along with many other family and friends.
Bobby graduated from Fairmont East High School Class of 1970. After high school, he enlisted into the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. During his military service, Bobby was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Marksman certification. He attended Sinclair Community College and obtained an Associate Degree in engineering. Bobby enjoyed gambling, especially playing the Ohio lottery. He loved Star Trek, collecting coins and hiding Easter eggs for all of his nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Newcomer Kettering, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
