RUTHERFORD, Robert Cecil, age 80, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away July 21, 2011. He was born on May 20, 1931 in Jonesville, Virginia to the late Bernard and Rosa Rutherford.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Nora (Cole) Rutherford of 58 years; three children, Robert "Bob" Rutherford and his wife Debbie, Vicki Saylor and her husband Gary and special daughter, Sandy Rutherford at home; two grandsons, Joshua Rutherford of Union, Ohio and Douglas Saylor of St. Johns, Michigan; two great-grandchildren, Kami Rutherford and Damon Rutherford both of Florida; two brothers, Newman Rutherford and his wife Gloria of Frankfort, Ohio and Bernard Rutherford and his wife Beverly of Washington Court House, Ohio; three sisters, Ruby Jayne of Knoxville, Tenn., Bernice Mills and her husband Leroy of Hamilton, Ohio, Lafern Bailey and her husband Charles of Ashville, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Parsons.
Cecil was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He was an avid Beagler. He raised his beagles for over 40 years and was a lifetime member of the Eastern Indian Beagle Club. He loved training his dogs for field trials and breeding.
Many of his dogs made field champions. Cecil starting working at Meadow Gold Dairy in 1953. Started as a home delivery milk man and moved up the chain to inside sales supervisor and retail sales and retired in 1985. He will be truly missed by all who knew him and his loving family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association. Pastor Phillip Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow in Royal Oaks Memorial Gardens.
