Robert C. Mumford, Jr.

Mumford, Robert Clarence (Jr)., age 65 of Union City, IN, formerly of Greenville, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2008 peacefully at his home. He was born July 3, 1942 in Dayton, the son of Robert & Mary (Anka) Mumford. He retired from General Motors after 38 years of service. He loved fishing and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Greenville. Robert was a loyal Cleveland Browns fan. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert C. Mumford, Sr. mother-in-law, Virginia Michel; step-son, Charles E. Michel; and his brother-in-law, John L. Arndts, Jr.. Survivors include his mother, Mary Mumford; wife, Sandra Mumford; daughters, Christine (Dennis) Chauncey of Huber Heights, Michelle (Fred) McDaniel of Dayton, Cheryl (Les) Sigmond of Greenville, & Nicole Mumford of Greenville; mother of his 4 children, Phyllis Mumford; step-children, Deborah L. Michel (Kathy Hamilton) of Greenville & Rodney Lacey of Vandalia; grandchildren, Alexis, Mason, Jenna; step-grandchildren, Chad, Brett, & Matthew; sisters, Anna (Bob)Bruns of Miamisburg, Mary (Fred) Szonnell of Beavercreek; brothers, Kenny Mumford of Xenia, Jim (Dottie) Mumford of Kettering, Sonny (Kathy) Mumford of Vandalia, Tom (Becky) Mumford of Covington, Joe Mumford of Beavercreek; sister-in-law, Charlene Arndts of Vandalia; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his special friends, his animals. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 PM until the time of services. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice of Jay Co., IN.
