Rober Austin Smith

SMITH, Robert Austin, age 88 of Fairborn, OH went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 13, 2009. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Melvinia Rose Newman Smith; father and mother, James S. and Leota M. Smith; brother, Ralph A. Smith; sons, Donald L. Lewis and Edward E. Donnelly; grandson, James K. Newman. Survived by son, James B, (Nelda) Newman of Griffin, GA; daughter, Glen Rosalee (Timothy) Lake of Hillsboro, OH; daughter-in-law Sandra K. Donnelly of Dayton, OH; grandchildren, Tammy L. Lake-Parrish, Tricia A. Donnelly, Shelley A Lake, Donald, Timothy, and Ricky Lewis; a very special grandson-in-law, Terry L. Parrish; and special friend, Hank Williamson. Retired from General Motors. Served in the U.S. Army Demolition WWII 1942-1944. Member of Oldtown United Methodist Church, Xenia, OH. Services will be 1 pm Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the church, 1639 US 68 N., Xenia, OH with Rev. Charles Hemming officiating. The family will receive friends from 11-1 at the church. In honor of Robert and Melvinia's lifelong love of animals (especially dogs) the family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to your choice of an animal shelter or rescue.
