Rita J. Murphy, age 84 of Dayton, OH, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Widow's Home of Dayton. She was born May 8, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio to Lavern and Pauline (Shiflet) Tangeman. Rita married Jerrold Murphy on May 9, 1952 in Dayton, OH.
Rita graduated from Parker/Patterson High School in 1952, and her and Jerrold were prom King and Queen. She attended St. Mary's grade school and also was member of St. Mary's Church. Rita was a school bus driver for Beavercreek City Schools for over 20 years. She loved to play bingo, go to movies and shop garage sales and thrift stores. Rita and Jerrold loved to travel, especially to Pigeon Forge and Florida. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.
Rita is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Murphy and Vicki Pennington; a son, Mike (Wanda) Murphy; three grandchildren, Jessica (Jason) Monday, Amy (Tim) Metcalf and Mark (Larry) Pennington; three great grandchildren; three sister in laws, Jane Murphy, Karen Ralston and Judy Tangeman; and other family and friends. She is preceded in death by parents, her husband of 51 years Jerrold; a brother, Richard Tangeman; and a grandson, Scott Murphy.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Widow's Home of Dayton or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
A Graveside Service will be held at Calvary Cemetery on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:00 am.
