Rita M. Elliott, 83, of Butler Township, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 after an extended illness. She was born September 24, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Merlin and Cecilia (Dempsey) Whaley.
Rita was a 1948 graduate of Kokomo High School, Kokomo, Indiana. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #586 of Tipp City and a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church of Dayton.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jean Farmer, Winifred Vent and a brother, John Whaley.
Rita is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dave E. Elliott whom she married on September 13, 1952; two sons, Thomas (Norma) Elliott, Steven (Jacqueline) Elliott; 5 grandsons, Michael Tobias, Bradley Elliott, Daniel Elliott, Robert Elliott, William Elliott; brother, James (Diane) Whaley; numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, May 30, 2014 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 5401 N. Main St., Dayton 45415.
