Ricky Lee Ellis, 68, of Dayton, Ohio passed away Friday, November 15, 2019 surrounded by his family.
A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00pm Friday, December 6, 2019 at the Prairies Chapel aka Chapel 3, 6568 Chapel Lane, Riverside, Ohio 45431.
Ricky was born September 19, 1951 in Toledo, Ohio to Grady Ellis and Norma Jean Hess. Shortly thereafter he moved to Michigan where he spent the better half of his childhood. He graduated from Pontiac Northern High School in 1969 and it was during his high school years that he met and fell in love with Patricia Montgomery, who fell victim to his charm and became his wife in March, 1972.
In 1973 Ricky joined the USAF and after 5 years when stationed at Nellis AFB in Nevada he fell prey to the gambling world and became a black jack dealer….which was a short lived stint as he quickly realized there was no money in that, at least not enough to support a family. So he re-enlisted in the USAF and was able to travel to different states and even got stationed overseas in Panama. His last assignment was at WPAFB where he finished out his remaining years doing chapel management and eventually retired from the military in January, 1994.
In the midst of all that chaos Patricia gave birth to 3 amazing children and as if that wasn't enough Ricky acquired his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Accounting and after retirement he also became CISCO certified and a certified Novell Engineer and for a few years worked at Behr/MAHLE Behr in the IT Department before retiring from the private sector. Let's be clear he thoroughly enjoyed RETIREMENT (schedules were not his thing).
After retirement he enjoyed the "good" things in life, the 2 G's, his grandkids and guns. He spent most of his free time at the gun range and with his family. He was the life of the party and loved to make everyone laugh and had a wonderful fulfilling life.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Patricia Ellis, his 2 daughters Sandra and Laura and his son Christopher, 6 grandkids Ryan, Anthony, Zoe, Madison, Skyler and Austin along with his 2 adopted daughters Annette and Jennifer and a host of many other aunts, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
