Rick Edward Coatsworth, age 74, of Dayton, passed away on June 15, 2021. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 15, 1946, the son of the late Edward and Mildred Coatsworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Shane M. Coatsworth.
Rick is survived by his loving children, Shaun (Andrea) Coatsworth and Elizabeth (John) Silvey; former wife and mother of his children, Gail Coatsworth; and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn & Landon Coatsworth, Morgan & Hudson Coatsworth, Abigail, Gabrielle and Evan Silvey.
He served his country proudly in the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Air Force, where he received a Purple Heart. Rick retired from Terminix, where he was employed for over 15 years in Sales. Rick had enjoyed coaching many youth sports over the years. In his free time, he loved to cheer on his University of Michigan football team, the Detroit Red Wings, spending time with his family and he was an avid animal lover. Rick was a very entertaining person and never met a stranger. Going out to dinner was a favorite pastime of his.
Visitation will be held from 12:30pm-1:30pm, on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where Funeral Services will begin at 1:30pm. Burial will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery.
