SHOENBERGER, Richard Wayne, 79 of Centerville, passed away late Friday evening, July 30th at Hospice of Dayton.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Denise and Jean-Luc Lo Cicéro of Dayton and Christina and Keith Wylie of Centerville, grandson, Murray Wylie of Nashville, TN, sister-in-law Kathleen Shoenberger of Titusville, FL and nephew Tom (Gayle) Shoenberger and great-nephew Cameron Shoenberger of Brush Prairie, WA. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris, of 56 years, his son, Glenn, and his brother, Kenneth.
Richard was honorably retired from the U.S. Navy at the rank of Lieutenant Commander and was a research psychologist who worked at WPAFB. Richard received his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University and held Masters and Bachelors degrees from Florida State University where Richard and Doris met. Richard enjoyed riding motorcycles, restoring old cars, telling puns and listening to nearly all types of music, especially big band and easy listening. He was an avid card player, a Reds baseball fan, and a wonderful loving husband, Daddy, Gramps, and friend.
Family and friends can call Wednesday evening, August 4th from 6:30- 8pm at Centerville Community Church, 10688 Dayton-Lebanon Pike. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 5th at 1:30 pm at the same location with Pastor Keith Mackintosh of CCC and Reverend Tom Harmon of First Presbyterian Church of Fairborn officiating. A graveside service will immediately follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens with full military honors.
