Richard Walter Slye

SLYE, Richard W., age 72, of Riverside, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2011. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Elda Slye; brother, Dale Slye; sister, Darlene Slye, and son, Jeffrey Slye.

Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, JoAn Slye; children, Stephen (Sue) Slye, Suzanne (Thomas) McDonald, and Stacie (Sean) Kubera; siblings, Jack Slye, Janet (Bill) Heckathorne, Jim (Marcia) Slye, and Debbie (Terry) Harrison; grandchildren, Lauren, Jessica, and Bradley Slye, Pfc. Jeffery and Amy Cooper, Ashley Kubera, Andrea and Jordan Selby; great grandchildren, Isaiah and Xavier Boseman, Serenity Hopgood, Nevaeh Shepherd, as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other family members, friends, and neighbors.

Richard retired after 22 years from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant and was a veteran of the Vietnam and Korean Wars. He also retired from Civil Service at WPAFB.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH. Burial will follow at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH. Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the funeral home, as well as 1 hour prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Dayton or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
