Richard Allen Trantanella, "RAT" age 89, of Dayton, OH, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024. Richard was born in Eaton, OH on January 7, 1935 to the late Augustine & Florence (McGee) Trantanella. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Trantanella, his sister, Delores (Bill) Abraham and brother, Joseph Trantanella. Richard is survived by his long time significant other, Sharon Hughes; Children, Michael (Mary) Trantanella, Lee (Tracy) Trantanella, Tony (Diane) Trantanella, Greg (Teri) Trantanella and Kristi (Eric) Peters; Grandchildren, Nicholas (Stacey) Trantanella, Robert (Amanda) Trantanella, Shaun (Ashley) Trantanella, Michelle (Jason) LeMaster, Caitlin Trantanella, Elizabeth Trantanella, Evan (Susie) Peters and Jacob Peters; Great-grandchildren, Matthew Trantanella, Bryson Trantanella, Tyler Howard, Tara Howard, Travis Howard, Jaelynn Trantanella, Vincent Trantanella, Marlee Trantanella, Roman Trantanella, Izabel Trantanella, Violet Trantanella, Willow Trantanella, Rayne Trantanella, Raven Trantanella, Ingram Trantanella, Archer LeMaster, Sullivan LeMaster, Glenn Peters and Lucca Peters; along with 6 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Richard was a graduate of Stivers High School. Close friends called him by his initials "RAT". He was natural athlete who over his lifetime enjoyed Golden Gloves boxing, barefoot water skiing, baseball, volleyball, bowling and golf. Richard retired from the NDM Corporation as a Tool & Die Maker. After retirement, he became an avid golfer who enjoyed working at Jamaica Run Golf Course, where he had the distinct pleasure of making two hole-in-ones. Richard was a caring person with a quick wit and unique sense of ornery humor. As the Patriarch of a large loving family with many friends, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024 at 12:30pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00pm at Jamaica Run Golf Course located at 8781 Jamaica Road, Germantown, OH 45327.
