Richard Trammell, 84, gained his wings peacefully with his family at his bedside on September 16, 2023. Richard was born in Grantville, GA to the late Tommie Smith and Walter Trammell Sr.
His family journeyed to Dayton in the mid 50s and he graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1957. Upon graduation, he enlisted into the Army in the 82nd Airborne Division and served from 1957-1961, Honorable Discharge.
Richard accepted Christ at an early age and was united with Jehovah, Harvest Grove, Central and St. Luke Baptist Churches. After the pandemic, he resorted to a televised ministry.
He started a career at Delco Products, General Motors Corporation in Dayton with 25 years of dedicated service until his retirement in June 1991. After retirement he started his own barbeque business called "Black 4 More" where he attended fairs and festivals and would set up and cook on about every street corner in Dayton with his amazing, good chicken and ribs. He even made his own berbeque sauce. Together he and Gary, his son, were well-known for their cooking abilities.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents: Walter Sr. and Tommie Smith Trammell; brothers: Walter Jr., Roosevelt, Glen, Raymond, Rev. Raleigh and Gus Trammell; sisters: Tommie Sampson, Alice Portress, Dorothy Shy, Margaret Byars; and son Gary L. Trammell.
Richard leaves to cherish in his memory, daughters, Sheila (Larry) Diggs and Celestine Trammell and son, Richard Oliver; sisters-in-law: Barnell Trammell, Chicago, IL, Anne Trammell, Dayton, Ohio; and nine grandchildren: Shantel Trammell, Isaiah Shepherd, Sierra (Tyrone) Barajas, Willie LaSaybra, Nevaeh, Makyla, Mozella, and Tommie; five great-grandchildren, Semaj, Kameron, Mekhi, Jasiah, and Zyel; special niece Sonya Kinney; special friend Larry Champion; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, Ohio. Richard will be laid to rest at 9:00am on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Dayton National Cemetery.
Richard's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
