Richard Alan Thompson, age 71, of Dayton passed away peacefully on September 10, 2018. He was born in Piqua, Ohio to proud parents, Lois Jones and Robert Thompson. Rick enlisted in the United States Army in May of 1964. He proudly and honorably served until 1967. After his service, Rick met and married the love of his life, Karen Evans. The two have shared 47 years together.
In his free time, Rick enjoyed reading and vintage cars. He took great pride in his family and loved to spend time with his wife, son, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren. Richard was a long time employee at Bob Ross Mercedes in Centerville. Richard was a caring and generous provider for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Robert Thompson; step-father, Wilburn Jones; step-brother, Donald Jones; and brother-in-law, Emerson "Junior" Evans.
Rick leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife of 47 years, Karen Thompson; son, Richard "Rick" A. Thompson, Jr.; mother, Lois Jones; granddaughters, Brianna (Evan) Stafford and Cheyenne Thompson; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Georgia Stafford; brothers, Robert (Carol) Thompson, Jeff Jones, and Dennis Jones; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert (Kit) Evans, Sherry (Danny) Collins, Mary (Vern) Pierce, Donna (Mike) Brown; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 4pm at Newcomer-North Chapel. Family will greet friends and loved ones for two hours prior (2pm-4pm).
