Thode, Richard "Skip" age 73, of Kettering, Ohio passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020. He was born in Michigan City, Indiana on January 1, 1947 to the late Robert George and Marquerite Thode (nee Massonne).
Skip is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 22 years, Jackie A. Thode (nee Stevenson); step-daughter, Amanda (David) Marker; grandchildren, Adeline Marker and Alice Marker; brother, Daniel (Frances)Thode of Michigan City, IN; aunt, Joan Drzewiecki of Michigan City, IN; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephew.
Skip joined the Navy in 1965 and was an E5 Fire Control Technician. He was in the Navy 4.5 years with most time spent in Vietnam on riverboats while assigned to the USS Rogers. Skip started his career in computer programming at Josam Manufacturing, Michigan City, Indiana. He accepted a job at NCR Corporation in 1979 and moved to Dayton, Ohio. Skip worked at NCR, in software Quality Assurance. He later worked at SASC, CSC, Gasper Corporation and again NCR, until he retired in 2012. Skip spent many hours of his earlier years fishing with his brother, Dan, and later years he enjoyed boating, woodworking and fixing almost anything. His workshop was one of his favorite places to be.
