Richard Wendell Stein, age 87 of Kettering, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center. He was born October 17, 1931 in Tiffin, Ohio to the late Wendell A. and Ida M. (Shank) Stein.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Jeanne M. Stein; daughter, Karen L. LeFrere, son, Robert W. Stein, grandchildren, Jesse Emile Williams and Dawn Marie Smith and sisters, Sharon K. Davis and Norma J. Brown.
Richard is survived by his children, David M. "Mike" Stein, John B. "Ben" Stein, Laurie L. (Ron) Creech and James J. (Melissa) Stein; 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as many other extended family and friends.
Richard was a 1950 graduate of Co-Op High School in Dayton, OH and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Jallao submarine during the Korean War. Richard was employed by NCR as a tool and die maker for 27 years. He went on to work and retire from Rainbow Tool in 1996. Richard enjoyed many past times over the years including archery, golf, target shooting, darts and gardening.
Family will receive guests from 10:00-11:30 am Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering. Service will immediately follow at 11:30 also at the funeral home and officiated by Chaplain Steve Wetterhan. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton with military honors.
