SHAW, Richard "Tom", age 79, went home to be with the Lord on his birthday, Monday, November 21, 2011. He was born to John and Effie Stephens Shaw of Roxanna, OH on November 21, 1932, the youngest of 10 children.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda; children, Rick (Robin) Hawthorne, Sonya (William) Harkleroad, Tommy (Susan) Shaw, and Rhonda (Dan) Lutz; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brothers, John, Cecil, and Frank; sister, Roberta Swearingen. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul, Kenneth, and Lawrence; sisters, Marietta Freelan and Helen Richardson.
Tom was a member of AHOP Church in Xenia and served 14 yrs. in the Army and National Guard as a Sergeant E-7. He was also a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans (DAV) and Xenia Amvets Post 14 and retired from Delco Products, Kettering. Tom loved his family, but most of all, his God, and his 2 little dogs, "Tiny" and "Chi-Chi".
Family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm on Friday, November 25, 2011 at AHOP Church, 356 Home Ave., Xenia. A graveside service will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Xenia with Pastor Brooks officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Dayton.
